ramsac was founded in 1992 by Robert May & Sally Cooper. Having previously worked within the IBM group, Robert's background focused on advising businesses how to get best use from their technology, and ramsac was originally conceived as a supplier of new technology for the professional services sector.
It soon became apparent that businesses in the SME sector lacked a pro-active management solution. Technology had already established itself at the heart of the professional services business, but businesses were failing to properly plan and manage it.
The Network Visit Plan was established in 1995 and gave us the opportunity to provide SME businesses with a dedicated IT consultant, someone who would take time to understand what each business was about, and ensure that IT was fully supporting the business, rather than the other way round! At the same time we appointed a dedicated support manager, to develop a remote help desk team to ensure clients could access support as and when they needed it, without having to wait for their technical contact to finish on-site with another client.
As the business started to grow, operations director Dan May was appointed to the Board and in 2001 the business achieved both ISO9001 and Investors In People accreditations.
Our strategic services were launched in 2002, to provide a range of auditing, planning and tactical IT services for larger businesses, and in the same year, ramsac were appointed as a Microsoft Authorised Education Reseller, following a cull by Microsoft which reduced the number of UK partners authorised to sell to the education and charity sector from 2000 to just 100. This accreditation allowed ramsac to start working closely with this new sector, a sector which has grown to become a key area of our business.
The company relocated to our new home in Godalming in 2003, allowing us to further expand our team and to provide better facilities for customers to visit us for educational seminars and to meet key industry suppliers.
ramsac has gone on to win a number of business and industry awards. In 2005 we won the coveted title of Microsoft Gold Partner and in 2007 we were named as winners at the Surrey Business Awards. In 2008, senior technical consultant Paul Mew joined the Board as our technical director.
We are proud of all of our achievements over the years, but we are proudest of our incredible customer retention rate - which we believe is the best indicator of our commitment to independent, ethical and cutting edge technical advice and service.
