June 21st 2005:
RAMSAC, a leading IT solutions provider, is to tackle the issues of Internet pornography and misuse at the next meeting of the South East Professional Services forum, set to take place on Thursday July 8th. With internet misuse costing UK businesses £1.5 billion a year and with employers now open to prosecution, the forum is designed to advise business professionals on how to put a stop to it.
RAMSAC has teamed up with The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), the only authorized organisation in the UK set up to deal with illegal online content, who will be providing an overview of its organisation and offering advice on how best to deal with porn in the workplace.
Fay MacDonald, Communications Co-ordinator for the IWF explains, “As the number of people using the Internet and the diversity of content available continues to grow, the mechanisms of dealing with illegal content must be better known and understood. This forum provides us with the ideal opportunity to raise awareness of our services and provide local businesses with a plan of attack to prevent Internet misuse.”
Also speaking at the event will be Robert May, Managing Director at RAMSAC, who will be providing a checklist on how to prevent internet abuse and Keith Potter from Stevens & Boltons LLP Solicitors, who will be focusing on dealing with the disciplinary side of what to do when things have gone too far.
May explains, “We are pleased to see that these forums are gaining recognition from industry watchdogs as well as local businesses. Our aim is to bring business professionals from the South East together so that we can raise awareness of how technology can help keep businesses secure and within the law.”
