ramsac’s Dan May appointed to Surrey Chambers of Commerce Board

ramsac, a leading IT solutions consultancy, today announced the appointment of  its Operations Director, Dan May, to the Surrey Chambers of Commerce Board of Directors. Surrey Chambers of Commerce represents over 1000 businesses in Surrey, providing them with information, support, a range of promotional opportunities, a voice to government and specialised services such as International Trade. 

Membership of Surrey Chambers of Commerce includes companies of all sizes and from all sectors of business. The organisation hosts over 100 events a year, bringing business people together to network, exchange ideas and of course do business.

Explained Louise Punter, Chief Executive of Surrey Chambers of Commerce, “The Board fulfils all the responsibilities of any private sector board for the corporate governance, direction and stewardship of the company. In particular, our board members provide strategic direction and leadership to the Chamber and maintain an overview of the needs of the Surrey economy and businesses to ensure that our programmes and services are well tailored to the needs of the Surrey business community.”

Punter continued, “We are delighted to welcome Dan May to the board. As ramsac’s Operations Director, he has brought a wealth of expertise and experience to the organisation. He has already used his skills in getting involved in a number of working groups that we are currently managing, such as the foundation degree for SMEs and the Surrey Community Foundation Fund.”

Commenting on his appointment, Dan May, Operations Director of ramsac, comments, ”I am looking forward to my new role at Surrey Chambers and I am very pleased to have been invited to join. I will be working with the other board members to represent the interests of the chambers members and am also looking forward to learning from my peers and gaining from their experience and knowledge”

Dan joined ramsac as Operations Director in 2001. He is responsible for all aspects of operational leadership from managing human resources to quality assurance and driving forward working efficiency and productivity. He has been instrumental in developing the company brand image and has achieved ISO 9001 and Investors in People accreditations for the company.

Prior to joining ramsac, Dan worked for Healthcall Services Limited as a National Development Manager, where he launched a new business division and led commercial activities. Previous to this, Dan was Corporate Operations Manager for Dollond & Aitchison Ltd. He holds a post-graduate diploma in operational management and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management.

Dan May is often invited by local and national media to provide expert comment on the issues that are affecting modern businesses. Most recently, Dan appeared on BBC Breakfast and was interviewed for BBC Radio Five Live and BBC Radio Two to discuss the challenges employers face regarding to the rise in flexible working.

Dan lives in Hove, East Sussex and in his spare time he volunteers as the Assistant Commissioner of St John Ambulance in Sussex, where he heads up the operations department. In 2008 Dan became a director of the Surrey Chamber of Commerce.
