Simply put, cloud technology (or cloud computing) is the location of data or software in a shared server, which you then access using an internet enabled device, from pretty much anywhere in the world. Cloud migration is a popular solution with a number of benefits including; greater agility, improved security and resilience, and flexible payment models, all of which help to alleviate costs and enhance user experience. ramsac can offer you advice and support in deciding whether a move to the cloud or a change in cloud service provider is the right step for your organisation.

Strategic planning and implementation

In spite of the potential benefits it is important to remember that cloud migration may not always be the right choice for your business, it’s important to set a strategy for the use of cloud technology, and ensure that you know exactly what data you are storing where, and how resilient the supplier is.
ramsac can work with you on an ongoing basis and help you decide whether or not migrating some or all of your IT services and storage to the cloud is beneficial for your business, and if you do decide to make

Our cloud migration approach includes:

A review of your current and future business plans, to consider how your work force works, where your team are based and how the business operates both now, and how you might change and develop in the short and medium term. We will consider the sensitivity of work you do an any regulatory requirements specific to your line of business. We can then consider the potential use of cloud services such as:

  • Microsoft Office365 – a suite of products from Microsoft that can include office applications such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint, SharePoint, Skype for Business and Microsoft Exchange
  • The hosting and distribution of your email
  • The location and frequency of your back up and requirements for restoring data
  • Where you store files and how you access these
  • What databases you use and how your team access these
  • Your use of accounting and specific line of business applications
  • Your current and future phone system requirements
  • Whether you need to own physical servers or whether you would benefit from renting cloud based hardware.
