ramsac sponsors TEDxGuildford 2025: A celebration of ideas, leadership and community

On 26 June 2025, the halls of Guildford College were transformed into a hub of inspiration, innovation, and storytelling as TEDxGuildford returned for another extraordinary event. Sponsored by local IT support and cybersecurity specialist, ramsac, the event brought together a diverse line-up of six speakers whose talks have already begun to resonate well beyond the walls of the college.

The event was spearheaded by ramsac’s Executive Chairman, Rob Maywho also serves as the official TEDxGuildford license holder and event organiser. Backed by a dedicated committee of volunteers and in partnership with Activate Learning and Guildford College, this year’s TEDxGuildford was as much about community as it was about big ideas.

“Organising TEDxGuildford was an absolute joy and such a rewarding experience” said Rob May. “My own TEDx talk back in 2017 opened so many doors for me, both personally and professionally. I wanted to share that opportunity with others and give people the platform to tell the stories that really matter.”

ramsac was passionate about supporting this event that we knew would have a meaningful impact in the heart of Guildford, while also aligning with the company’s commitment to personal growth, community partnership and thought leadership.

“At ramsac, we’re always looking for ways to give back meaningfully,” Rob added. “TEDxGuildford gave us the perfect chance to do that, not only by shining a light on brilliant local voices, but by helping to shape an event that encourages personal reflection, leadership and progress.”

The TEDxGuildford 2025 stage played host to six unique talks, each with a distinct message yet united by their authenticity and relevance. The talks are now live on the official TEDx YouTube Channel

and each one is well worth a watch.

What comes out when you’re squeezed? – Obi Abuchi

Drawing on over 20 years of leadership development, Obi explored the idea that pressure reveals character. His talk encouraged leaders to develop emotional intelligence and self-awareness to better respond in high-stakes situations. It was a masterclass in leading from within. “True leadership,” Obi said, “isn’t about control, it’s about responding with compassion and purpose when it matters most.”

Your behaviours, their reality – Vicky O’Farrell

Vicky delivered a humorous yet deeply insightful reflection on how our behaviours affect those around us. She challenged the audience to ask, “How does it feel to be on the receiving end of me?” Her message: greater self-awareness builds stronger connections, both personally and professionally.

Why we’re drowning in communication – and how to fix it – Sally Pritchett

Sally addressed the modern communication overload head-on. With sharp insight and practical solutions, she made the case for a communication “diet” that reduces noise and improves clarity, creativity and wellbeing in the workplace. “We’re not short on communication,” she explained, “we’re short on effective communication.”

Feeling tired? Wiggle your toes – Dr Elsa Tsang

Elsa’s talk brought a sense of calm and reflection. Sharing her AREA model and personal stories, she invited the audience to reconnect with their bodies, practice kindness and choose presence over productivity. A moving reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures, like wiggling your toes, can bring us back to ourselves.

How a selfie changed my life – Kat Mahale

Kat’s emotional and inspiring talk revealed how one photo became the catalyst for a journey of healing and self-discovery. Through therapeutic photography and Felt Sense methodologies, Kat encouraged others to see themselves with compassion and creativity.

The one thing most people forget in an interview – Matt Wood

Matt’s engaging talk challenged traditional interview advice by championing storytelling and authenticity. His perspective, shaped by years as a business owner, adventure racer and fundraiser, reminded us that connection beats perfection every time.

Looking ahead

TEDxGuildford 2025 was more than just an event. It was a shared experience that celebrated curiosity, courage, and community spirit. For ramsac, it marked a powerful way to live out its values beyond the boardroom. “The whole experience reaffirmed for me how important it is to create space for others to be heard,” Rob concluded. “Whether on stage, in the workplace or in everyday life, giving someone the opportunity to share their story can be truly transformative.”

The talks are now available for public viewing on YouTube and ramsac encourages everyone, clients, colleagues, partners and friends, to take a few moments to watch and share them. These are ideas worth spreading, and voices worth hearing.
