Brentford School for Girls are an independent school who chose to work with ramsac to assist with day to day IT support, for help recruiting internal IT employees and for a full IT health check.
Brentford School for Girls is an academy secondary school and sixth form located in the Borough of Hounslow, with over 800 students on roll. Their commitment to academic excellence and personal well-being has put them in the country’s top 100 nonselective state schools. The school’s success lies in the close and safe community that flourishes at Brentford, and the excellent relationships that exist between staff and students.
The school had recently lost a member of their in-house IT staff and had struggled to recruit a suitable replacement. This left them very dependent on a single member of staff, and they recognised that they couldn’t possibly have a broad enough technical experience in a small in house team, they needed to bring in a partner that could supplement the skills they already had, provide resilience and reassurance to the school’s Leadership Team, and a sounding board and healthy challenge to the in house professionals.
Katie Coleman, Deputy Headteacher at Brentford School said “We chose ramsac because they are personal, accommodating, realistic and always do what they say. From the get-go they filled us with confidence and tailored everything to our schools individual’s needs.”
The first step was to produce an IT health check – an independent review of the existing network, highlighting development needs and prioritising them with the school team. This ‘red, amber, green’ report formed the basis of the immediate plans and enabled us to agree a service level that exactly suited the needs of the school. This service level has always remained flexible, and when a key member of staff left the school we were able to step up our involvement to ensure no disruption to learning, even lending a hand with the selection of the replacement employee.
Many organisations fear the impact of changing an IT provider, but to ensure transitions are always smooth, ramsac have a tried and tested onboarding process. Describing the move to ramsac Katie Coleman said, “The whole process has been seamless and any issues that we have had have been dealt with quickly”.
Katie Coleman commented, “Since moving to ramsac, the school has become much more confident in IT and our current staff have found this useful. There is always a friendly ear at ramsac to help whenever we need support. I would not question our recommendation to work with ramsac, as an external support provider they have been very supportive, fair and always clear about cost and value for money.”Contact us to find out how we help education organisations manage their IT
